We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to join our team at the DGH workshop in Mackay. This role is critical in leading machining operations, ensuring safety and quality, and driving continuous improvement and business growth.

Hands-on Role:

As a Supervisor Boilermaker, you will not only provide leadership and guidance but also work alongside our team, carrying out boilermaker tasks. You will be expected to be proficient in all aspects of boilermaking and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


🛠 Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the machine shop team as a positive role model, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration.
  • Coordinate machining activities to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with safety protocols and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Ensure strict quality control and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance for machinery and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Manage inventory of materials and tools, liaising with purchasing as required.
  • Assist with job estimating and quoting based on machining requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to expand business capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities and communicate effectively across departments.
  • Oversee and coordinate mechanical overhaul projects, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and within timeframes.
  • Inspect and assess components for overhaul, repair, and refurbishment requirements.

💡 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in machining operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of machining processes and equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and prepare accurate estimates.
